Welcom scoops people development award
Welcom Software – the first IT company in the UK to achieve the
Investors In People (IiP) Leadership and Management model, has further
strengthened its reputation as a people’s champion with a prestigious
award.
Welcom, which provides cutting-edge business solutions to the financial
services and retail sectors, won the ‘Progress Through People’
accolade at the York Evening Press Business Awards.
The judges singled out the company from stiff competition, acknowledging
its clear people objectives and drive to create an enabling and empowering
environment that encourages open communication, increased productivity,
and employee happiness.
Welcom’s investment in staff is substantial. Its passion to harness
aspirations sees 14 employees – 23 per cent of the entire team –
currently undergoing Dale Carnegie training courses that are challenging
employees to reach their full potential and work more effectively as a
team.
A partnership comprising Chief Executive Officer Nigel Welch and Chief
Operating Officer Nigel Corp, are developing the company’s young,
fresh and innovative culture, in which the business is seen as a ‘community’.
Corp said: “This acknowledgement is a tremendous accolade which
we are collectively celebrating. As a team we are stronger than ever –
lines of communication have been vastly improved, with every employee
empowered to play a more vital role in our ambitious and exciting plans
for further growth and expansion.”
