Welcom Software Group defies the credit crunch with key client wins

Harrogate based Welcom Software Group, supplier of class leading solutions in eCommerce, eMarketing, consumer and commercial lending, financial accounting and retail software is enjoying another record year. Despite the current climate, turnover is up 55% on the previous year, employee numbers have risen by 40% to over 80 and the business is on target to increase turnover to £10 million within the next two years.

Founded in Harrogate in 1978, Welcom Software has gone from strength to strength in its 30 years trading and is now an established UK software solutions provider. Previously specialising in retail, finance and commercial lending software, the Welcom Software Group was formed in 2007 with the strategic acquisition of leading eCommerce and eMarketing agency e-inbusiness and the formation of 2inspire, a leadership development consultancy.

Despite the high profile credit crunch the core Welcom Software Group product base is booming. The eCommerce marketplace continues to defy the down turn in the retail market with online spending at its fastest rate for six years and the high growth set to continue. Working with retailers such as New Look, Radley, Dreams, Jacques Vert Group and Cath Kidston, the Group has added a number of high profile clients to its portfolio including: Slaters and HSS Hire in the last six months. With online sales expected to beat the credit crunch and grow from 5% of total retail sales to over 13% by 2012, this area of the business is on target to continue to outperform.

For the commercial and consumer lending sector, the credit crunch is bringing mixed fortunes with sub-prime lenders profiting in the current climate. For Welcom’s leading consumer lending software Financier, client wins are flying in with the recent addition of 4 businesses in as many months. Joining a portfolio that includes Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander, The Loan Store and RedKite Money, North East Lincolnshire Council, Roy Ling Finance Ltd and Haydock Finance/PLUS Financial are just three of these recent additions.

Operating from two locations: Harrogate and Maidenhead, this recent growth and development has been supported by substantial recruitment drives at both locations including senior management appointments for a Creative Director, Head of Projects and Infrastructure and Network Manager. This recruitment drive is expecting to continue as the business secures more client wins.
