Welcom Software in final Four for
National Business Awards (North East Region)
Welcom Software are delighted to have been short listed in the National Business Awards (North East Region) finals for the second year running. The National Business Awards sponsored by Orange are the most prestigious awards programme in the UK. They recognise businesses that, in addition to the individual award criteria, demonstrate commercial success, innovation and real ethical commitment. In 2006, the company was highly commended in the Employer of the Year category, and this year has made the final shortlist of four candidates for the Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year sponsored by AXA.
In order to set the company apart from the rest of the field in contention for the award, Welcom were required to demonstrate excellence in the areas of leadership, stakeholder relations (covering dealings with employees and members, suppliers and clients), business results and successfully tackling problems. Having sufficiently impressed the judges to have made the final four, People and Culture Manager John Barrow and Fiona Rule made a presentation to a panel of business leaders at Rudding Park, Harrogate on Friday 4th May. They were also subjected to detailed questioning on the finer points of Welcom’s operations, giving the panel a clear picture of what makes Welcom Software unique as a business and as a community.
John Barrow will be Welcom’s ambassador at the awards ceremony at the Palace Hotel in Manchester on 10th July where the winners will be announced.
STOP PRESS: 18th July 2007
Welcom were narrowly pipped to the post by Applied Language Solutions. Despite losing out at the final hurdle, we are proud of making it into the final four of such a prestigious award as this provides further external recognition of Welcom’s ongoing growth and success.
As part of the run up to the awards ceremony, the company was visited by the MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough, Phil Willis, on Friday 29th June. It was a particular pleasure to welcome Mr Willis back as he performed the official opening of the new building at Welcom House ten years ago. Phil Willis is pictured meeting Welcom Software Directors Nigel Corp and Nigel Welch.
